Kavod Senior Life (formerly Allied Jewish Apartments) was founded in 1968 by a group of philanthropic minded individuals in the Jewish community who were concerned about the lack of affordable housing for lower income senior adults. The West Building, at 11 South Adams Street, opened in 1971.
Developed as a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, the housing arm of Kavod currently operates three high rise buildings in Cherry Creek.
In 1986, a staffed activity program was added in order to help provide residents with social and intellectual opportunities. This program grew, and in 2011 the Academy of Lifelong Learning was established. The Academy of Lifelong Learning offers an extensive choice of classes and activities, and graduations are held annually to recognize individuals who participate in enough classes and activities to qualify.
An Assisted Living Program began in 1986 for residents who needed more assistance but wanted to remain in the community.
